LeTourneau has negotiated special rates with five of the hotels in the
Suggested Longview hotels list as indicated. We recommend that you
make reservations at the hotel/motel of your choice and arrange
for payment. The special rates can be obtained by requesting the
LeTourneau Customer/Student discount. A credit card is required
for reservations. If you require assistance, please provide information
on the enrollment form and include your credit card information.
Although
direct payment by the student to the hotel is recommended, direct
billing to LeTourneau is available from Best Western, Hampton
Inn, Homewood Suites or Fairfield Inn. If you are interested in
applying the hotel charges to your Purchase Order, please indicate
the Direct Bill from LeTourneau option on your enrollment
form and include these charges in your Purchase Order estimate along
with a handling fee of $50.00 per company per training school.
Some
of these hotels provide a shuttle service to and from the Gregg
County Airport. However, NONE of these hotels provide student transportation
to and from the LeTourneau Training Center. Each student is responsible
for providing his or her own transportation. See the Transportation
section for more details on transportation options.

Note that the principal restaurant and shopping areas in Longview
are located in the north part of town with a secondary area in the
center part of town along Marshall Avenue (Hwy. 80). However, there
are a few restaurants near the LeTourneau Training Center.

AIR
TRANSPORTATION TO LONGVIEW
Longview
is centrally located in North East Texas and there are several options
for air transportation into the area.
1)
The Gregg County Airport (GGG) is located just south of Longview
and is served by American Eagle Regional Airline with flights to
and from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Gregg County
Airport is approximately 5 minutes from the LeTourneau Training
Center.
2)
The Tyler Pounds Field Airport (TYR) is served by American Eagle,
Continental Express and Austin Express with flights to and from
the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The Tyler Pounds Field
Airport is approximately 1 hour driving time from Longview.
3)
The Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) is served by seven commercial
airlines. The Shreveport Regional Airport is about 1 hour driving
time from Longview.
4)
The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is served by over
25 commercial and numerous charter airlines. The Dallas-Fort Worth
Airport is approximately 2.5 hours driving time from Longview.
GROUND
TRANSPORTATION WHILE IN LONGVIEW
1)
Some of the hotels listed provide a shuttle service to and from
the Gregg County Airport.
2)
NONE of these hotels provide student transportation to and from
the LeTourneau Training Center. Each student is responsible for
providing his or her own transportation while attending a class.
3)
The closest hotels are 1 mile away from the Training Center. The
traffic and roads are not suitable for walking to and from the training
classes.
4)
A rental car is recommended. A list of available car rental companies
in Longview is also provided along with their hours of operation.
These hours are rather limited. Therefore, you should check your
flight times to verify that the car rental company of your choice
will be open when you arrive at Gregg County Airport.
5)
The only public transportation in Longview consists of a few taxis.
Response time of a requested taxi is often slow. It can take 30
minutes or more for a taxi to arrive at the airport. Typical fare
from the airport to one of the hotels is between $10 and $20 USD.
