DC Motors
LeTourneau Technologies™ Power Systems designs, manufactures, and rebuilds DC motors from 50 to 2,000 hp, setting the standard for durability, efficiency, and performance.
All newly manufactured LTI DC motor components are coated with epoxy resins using vacuum-pressure impregnation (VPI) for corrosion resistance. Designed for rectified DC power applications, these shunt-wound traction motors also feature reaction brush holders. And all LTI DC motors larger than 200 hp feature Class H insulation or better.
Each motor comes standard with space heaters, explosion-proof air pressure and lock out switches, 15 hp blowers, and heavy-duty marine junction box. Among accessories and options available: custom designed oversized blower assemblies; double shaft design; vertical configuration; a variety of explosion-proof accessories and fittings; innovative closed loop cooling system; tachometer generator/0.1% encoder speed feedback; and comprehensive testing and certification to the performance and construction characteristics of SOLAS, ABS, Lloyds, DVN, CSA, Bureau of Mines, and more.
LTI also produces remanufactured DC motors from 500 to 5,000 hp. LTI’s rebuilding process includes full disassembly and sandblasting of all parts, along with the installation of new bearings and brushes. The frame and armature are dipped in Class H varnish and baked. If needed, the motor may be rewound or new rewound coils added. To complete the process, the motor is balanced and tested fully in the same manner as LTI’s new DC motors. The result is a motor that operates like new, while providing considerable savings.
