LeTourneau Technologies™ Offshore Products Announces Laying
of the Keel
for First 240-Series Rig
Vicksburg, Mississippi – LeTourneau Technologies™ (LTI) Offshore Products, has completed the laying of the keel for its first 240-C jack-up rig. This rig, contracted by the Rowan Companies, Inc., is scheduled to be delivered in June, 2008.
This construction milestone was completed August 4, 2006, at LeTourneau’s shipyard in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The “laying of the keel” is a significant step commemorating the first steel of the rig being placed in position on the ground, marking the beginning of the rig’s construction.
Occupying the same rig footprint as LeTourneau’s industry standard 116-C, the cantilevered 240-C will feature a hull length of 228 feet, a width of 220 feet, and depth of 26 feet. The rig is designed to operate in 350 feet-plus water depth.
