ICAM
Overview
With its industrial hardware, adaptable software, and
ISO-standard Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol, ICAM
can manage and monitor all types of customer-specified
systems and subsystems.
Its modular design conveys unlimited flexibility for rebuilds
and retrofits.
Its extensive interactive, diagnostic, and system-interrogation
capabilities include off-site monitoring and troubleshooting by
RF modem, telephone, or the Internet.
Proven in a wide range of demanding applications, its robust construction ensures reliable, problem-free performance.
Using a master control module linked to multiple remote modules,
ICAM can
be sized to any application. What's more, ICAM
enables easy software updates and downloads in the field,
lets you protect your programming, and prevents parameter alterations
by unauthorized personnel.
Conceived and manufactured by the Drive Systems Group of LeTourneau,
Inc.
the world's leading innovator in mobile offshore drilling rigs,
log stackers, cranes, and giant front-end loaders for mining operations
ICAM
comes with the pedigree you're looking for in total systems
management.
Optional ICAM
Hardware
User Interface. For interactive operation, LeTourneau
can equip your system with a display screen, a keypad, warning
lights, and audible alerts, individually or in any combination
desired.
Translator Module (TXM). For interfacing with other "smart"
systems, PLCs, or control computers; provides three user-selectable
communications ports and eight universal I/Os; supports J1939,
RS465, IEEE 1587, and RS232 protocols (others available by request).

ICAM
Developer Software
Although it's name is Developer, ICAM's Windows® based configuration
software requires no programming experience whatsoever. And its
simple "drag and drop" procedure could not be easier
to use. Developer lets you modify its base configuration (an excellent
starting point for most applications) with the added functionality
best suited to your needs. Available features include:
Menu-Driven User Screens. For investigating and inspecting
the entire ICAM
system. Accessible by direct connection or remotely via
RF modem, telephone lines, or even the Internet.
Downloadable Depth-Windowed Fault Logs. For capturing
status information on each and every part of the system, prior
to and after a fault; can handle more than 100,000 entries; encrypted
and secure.
Hardware/Software Security. To guarantee your system's
integrity by preventing tampering or unauthorized modification.
Virtual Channels. Literally hundreds available, with powerful
math functions for combining data from various I/Os to create
additional information for controlling and diagnosing your system.
Event Based and Real-time Based Control Functions.
For generating output commands as needed.
"Prerequisite" Programming. For configuring
the system to behave differently under different conditions and
eliminating false or nuisance alarms by allowing the configuration
designer to decide when to display, record, or ignore specific
types of faults.
Channel Browser. For viewing the value and status of any
system I/O by scrolling through a menu-selection process via the
keypad.
Diagnostics and System Interrogation
ICAM
automatically performs a thorough self-diagnostic routine on startup,
then diagnoses itself continuously to ensure that the network
is always operating in peak condition. For detailed system interrogation,
the operator or technician can navigate through various menus
and displays to monitor or study any channel (requires interface
equipment). The options include:
Log Viewer. Allows on-screen display of accumulated operating
and message data.
Inspector. Displays up to eight selected channels simultaneously
in real-time, strip-chart format. Channel selection can be changed
and varied as desired for monitoring and troubleshooting.
Enhanced Channel Inspector. Shows the detailed path of
a particular channel in schematic form, allowing further observation
of related channels. With this option, the operator or maintenance
technician can quickly follow likely paths in order to find the
cause of a suspected fault.
Remote Monitoring. Log up to 64 channels simultaneously
using the ICAM
wireless modem system and view as many as 16 at a time
on a remotely located personal computer, in real-time, strip-chart
format.
Downloads. The system log can be downloaded for convenient
analysis, trending, reporting, and troubleshooting by control
screen or computer.
| ICAM
Advantages vs. PLCs |
| Feature |
ICAM
|
| Easy-to-use "drag
and drop" configuration software. No programming
skills required; no ladder diagrams; no need for specialists
or outsourcing. |
 |
| Uncomplicated hardware
selection. Only one or two basic module types for
any system configuration. |
 |
| Prepackaged hardware
ready for mounting and connecting. |
 |
| Designed for harsh
conditions. No special housings required; no sensitivity
to dirt, temperature, moisture, or vibration. |
 |
| "Revision tolerant"
flexibility. Make changes during system integration
using software and reprogrammable I/Os, without having
to procure or rewire hardware. |
 |
| Built-in monitoring
and diagnostic capabilities, in addition to executing
commands. |
 |
| Simplified scalability.
Expand your system via unused I/Os or by adding
one or more remote modules. |
 |
| Adaptive to changing
conditions. For complex processes, can be configured
to make decisions and behave differently under widely
varying conditions. |

Durable and Dependable
ICAM
hardware meets CE certification standards and is manufactured
to endure common industrial fluids, high-pressure, hot-water washes,
operating temperatures from -40 to +80 degrees Celsius (-40 to
+176 F), and storage temperatures from -55 to +125 degrees C (-67
to +257 F). Gold-to-gold military grade connections
immune to short circuits and reverse polarity
ensure maximum electrical integrity and long-term
reliability.
Easily Serviced
The interchangeable RCMs not only reduce inventory requirements
but simplify troubleshooting and servicing. Automatically programmed
by the MCM to perform their assigned functions, two RCMs can be
swapped in order to isolate a defect. Replacement is a fast and
straightforward pull out and plug in procedure.
