LEWCO DirectDrive™ Top Drives from LeTourneau Drilling Systems are manufactured for high performance
and reliability in drilling applications.
Our patented LEWCO DirectDrive™ Top Drive is directly coupled to the AC electric motor, which eliminates the need for a gearbox, along with associated bearing and gearing problems. The result is a low-maintenance, high-performance, high-reliability top drive that is designed for high-torque drilling applications.
Available in 500, 750, and 1000 ton models, LEWCO DirectDrive™ Top Drive systems include necessary components to improve drilling efficiency, performance, and reliability. These systems offer low-speed and high-torque for increased drilling performance, while the redundant speed sensing capability provides for operational reliability.
A Fully Integrated System
In addition to the gearbox free, AC electric motor direct-driven design, the LEWCO DirectDrive™ Top Drive is a fully integrated system offering advanced features and complete integrated control. All LeTourneau Top Drives include low-speed, high-torque characteristics combined with a precise IBOP and pipe handling system. Integrated control is provided by OEM Power Systems’ AC Drive, offering full control from a single console. Overall, LeTourneau Top Drives hydraulic system and advanced features resulting in a reliable, easily maintained system.

Delivering a consistent, high level of torque, the LeTourneau Power Systems AC motors used in DirectDrive™ Top Drives also provide reliability. High-density magnetic steel and windings put more "copper in the slot" to deliver high-torque performance.
